Stranraer Museum

Stranraer’s historic Old Town Hall, built in 1776, is the home of Stranraer Museum. Step inside and discover Wigtownshire’s fascinating past. See one of Scotland’s oldest ploughs, look at Victorian Wigtownshire in 3D photographs and investigate the collection through the museum trails. Also check out displays on archaeology, local history, costume, farming and dairying. An exciting and varied temporary exhibition programme runs throughout the year and there are activities for all the family.

Glenwhan Gardens, Arboretum and Tea Room

Glenwhan Gardens has been described as one of the most beautiful gardens in Scotland. With unique and stunning sea views across to the Isle of Man, Luce Bay, and the Mull of Galloway.

The Gardens are a labour of love, hewn from rough moorland 40 years ago. With the warming influence of the Gulf Stream, Glenwhan grows many tender plants from around the Southern Hemisphere, together with large collections of rare trees and shrubs. Two small lakes (Lochans) are the focal point of these family-run gardens, with seats and meandering paths running along enchanting walks with interesting sculptures, which anyvisitor will discover.

Mull of Galloway Experience

The Mull of Galloway is Scotland’s most Southerly Point. At the end of a narrow peninsula with stunning views in every direction, the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse, the Lighthouse Exhibition, the RSPB Visitor Centre and Reserve and the stunning Gallie Craig Coffee House comprise the Mull of Galloway Experience, a Four Star Visit Scotland Visitor Attraction.

The Lighthouse Tower is open to the public during the main season by kind permission of the Northern Lighthouse Board. A climb up the narrow, spiral staircase with its 115 steps to the viewing platform is rewarded by stunning views over Luce Bay to the Galloway Hills, the Fells of the Lake District, over the Irish Sea to the Isle of Man and Northern Ireland – four countries from one viewpoint!

Visit Belfast

Why not take the short 2 hour 15 minute ferry journey across the Irish Sea and you’ll arrive in the heart of Belfast. Enjoy the craic with the friendly locals and explore this vibrant city packed with restaurants, museums, bars and plenty for all the family to enjoy.
